“We don’t need anyone else”
Mark told Jack of his short loss of self-confidence. Jack gave Mark an encouraging slap behind the back to show that he was aware of Mark’s worries. With a genuine smile and sympathetic eyes, he encouraged Mark.
Jack assured him: “You can do it Mark”
Mark was reminded of the reason for their inclusion, and his importance in their lives.
Mark was made to understand that no one else’s opinion of him matters.
He is more than just a homeless person
He took a deep breath to calm himself down and remind himself why he did this. He was unwavering in his resolve to complete the task.
He would not accept to be reduced to the cliched image of a person who is homeless. As he thought of the surprise that he had planned, he felt a new sense of purpose. Mark was certain that his next act would change the way people viewed him and dispel stereotypes.
