In 2017, as foreign relations grew tense and Americans began to prepare for wartime, businesses that build bunkers saw a surge in business. The demand for bunkers increased as the future appeared uncertain.

Clyde Scott of Rising Bunkers in Texas said that the business reached a new record in 2016-2017. His sales have increased at least 400% and his business is now worth $10 million. The Independent reported on this.
