Shirley Temple’s movie career did not last as long as people think. Temple, who spent her childhood in the spotlight and on the big screen, decided to retire at the age of 22.
She had a successful career in diplomacy as a Republican Party member and appeared on TV in Shirley Temple’s Storybook. She served as the United States ambassador to Czechoslovakia between 1989 and 1992. She was so famous for many years, that even a cocktail named after her. Temple died of COPD in 2014 at the age 85.
