Linda Ronstadt has a long history of acting, even though she is best known for her music. She has appeared in numerous productions, including The Muppet Show and Saturday Night Live. But she’s also played characters. She played Mabel Stanley, in The Pirates of Penzance. This performance earned her nominations for both a Tony Award and a Golden Globe.
Her declining health has forced her to put both her musical and acting career on hold in recent years. In 2011, she announced her retirement from stage and screen. Two years later, she revealed she had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. As a result of this, she could no longer sing. Later, she was re-diagnosed as having progressive supranuclear paralysis.
