Mixed emotions
Emma felt a mixture of emotions on the way home. She felt proud and relieved that she had finally stood up for herself in the office, but also sad and ashamed about Lily and for letting it get this far.
She shouldn’t have let Mark affect her life in this way.
Consequences
She comforted herself by thinking that she finally had stood up to him. She didn’t give a damn about the consequences. If she got fired, she’d find another job.
She was only thinking about Lily now, and that she would finally be home.
