Dinner Disturbance
Everyone was trying to eat quietly in an uncomfortable atmosphere. The only sound that could be heard was the clinking of the silverware. Jane’s mom, smirking, said, “Tom is this always how you cook your meat?”
It’s overdone. Tom’s face was flushed but he politely replied, “I did my best, ma’am.” As everyone focused on their food and avoided eye contact, the atmosphere became more tense.
Jane’s Breaking Point
Jane was irritated by the constant jabs and sneers. She stood abruptly up and left the table. The room fell into a deeper silence.
Tom left Jane’s parents to the awkward atmosphere they had created.
