JACQUELINE BISSET – THE SWEET RIDE, 1968
Jacqueline Bisset is a symbol of femininity that has endured from the 1960s to the 1980s. She continues to shine with her appearances in films like “Loren and Rose” in 2022. She started acting in 1965, with an uncredited part in “The Knack… and How to Get It.” But it was the role she played in 1968’s “The Sweet Ride,” which really put her on the map.
Jacqueline played Vickie Cartwright, a character she gained from her short appearance in “Two for the Road” which earned her a Golden Globe nod. In one of the film’s most iconic scenes, “Rich and Famous”, actress Jacqueline was seen on the beach wearing a white bikini.
SUE LYON – LOLITA, 1962
Sue Lyon made her debut at age 13 and went on to become a fashion icon, actress and successful businesswoman. In 1959, she was featured on an episode of the “Loretta Young Show”. In 1962, however, she was hailed for her controversial role in “Lolita” and won a Golden Globe Award.
Sue was a young girl who fell in love with her literature professor, and she gave a compelling performance. She beat over 800 other actresses to the role, and made a memorable entry in a brown two-piece bathing suit accented with a wide light blue sun hat. Sue’s appearance in “Lolita”, which she wore in the film, was what defined her Hollywood career.
