Angela Bassett is a multi-award winning actress who has become known for portraying Black women as strong and empowering. She made her mark on the cinematic scene with films such as “Waiting to Exhale”, “Contact” (1997), “Waiting to Exhale”, “Contact” (1995), but it was the role she played in “How Stella got her Groove back” in 1998 that propelled her to stardom.
Angela played Stella Payne in the film, a 40 year old American woman who finds unexpected love with a Jamaican 20-year-old man. Bassett wore a fuchsia-colored bikini with a white beaded neckpiece, while her costar wore simple black trunks. Angela’s charisma and talent were evident in this iconic beach scene.
