Jerry Lewis has had heart problems throughout his life
Most people would love to live to 90 years old before they die. Jerry probably felt this way given that he had to deal with health problems so often during his lifetime. Lewis suffered several heart attacks throughout his life. He suffered his first heart attack when he turned 34, while filming ‘Cinderfella’.
In the 1980s and 2000s, the star had to undergo double-bypass open-heart surgery and cardiac cath. Jerry was able to survive despite his damaged heart thanks to these procedures. He made it until 91 years old before everything went wrong. It’s not surprising that his heart eventually caused him to die.
The comedian has faced a variety of illnesses throughout his career
Jerry Lewis’ heart was not the only thing that caused him to worry during his life. He was also diagnosed with prostate carcinoma and contracted pneumonia. Lewis’ life was made difficult by these illnesses and Type 1 Diabetes.
It affected his mood, ability to perform and even his appearance. The treatment for pulmonary fibroids was to blame for the weight gain he experienced in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Jerry lost weight only after months of treatment. It seems that this was a side effect of his medication.
