Her Demanding Job
Marcos and Nadya married and Nadya earned her psychiatric technologist license the same year at San Antonio College. She was now working in a Norwalk psychiatric center. It was a demanding job. Something happened one day at the facility.
The Disaster
On September 18, 1999, 20 patients began a riot. Nadya was trying to stop the riot when one of the patients flipped over a desk and hit her in back. She was diagnosed with a herniated disk and received $170,000 as worker’s compensation.
She Postponed Her Dream
Her injury made it difficult for her to work, as she was in pain and distressed. She was not only in pain, but also had to delay having children. The couple decided to consult a doctor when nothing worked out.
