Dragon Scales
This image was captured by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The surface was almost pinkish, and looked like scales of a dragon. NASA experts believe that the unusual surface is a result of water interacting with a Martian rock.

The majority of rocks are now clay-bearing. Experts still try to understand this transformation, but believe it could be due to a past climate change.
The Martian Muppet
Many people have noted that the image of the south pole of Mars has a face-like encircled area. It’s Beaker from The Muppets!

Carbon dioxide is frozen to form the formations that make up Beaker’s face. Carbon dioxide forms interesting shapes when it freezes.
