Active volcano
This image was captured by the Express orbiter of the European Space Agency. The image caused quite a stir as people believed that it was an indication that there was an active volcano on Mars since the formation looked similar to that of the Arsia mons volcano.
Dr. Tanya Harrison of NASA’s Opportunity Rover team debunked the claim, saying that it is not smoke. Water ice clouds are condensing on the summit of the volcanic cone. Arsia Mons last erupted 50 million years ago.
Ancient god face
The image captured by the Mars Opportunity Rover has gotten people talking. It may look like a pile of rocks at first, but when you zoom in on the figure encircled, you can see a face.
This face looks very much like a Neo-Assyrian deity. Its exact resemblance to the god is quite eerie. This is a classic case of pareidolia, the tendency to see human faces in inanimate objects.
