A hole in the surface
This image was captured near the south polar region of Mars. NASA discovered a hole on the surface of Mars. This is not just any hole, but a perfectly circular one. UFO enthusiasts were unable to believe this hole was naturally created.
Only from orbit could the hole be seen. Researchers determined that the oddly-perfect hole measures a few hundreds meters in diameter. The formations surrounding the hole are frozen carbon dioxide.
Lava coils
The surface of Mars has a unique pattern that looks like it was created by accident. This is the result of a lava flow that occurred on Mars thousands of years ago. Lava coils are the spiraling patterns.
Experts estimate that the largest lava coils on Mars are 30 meters in diameter. This is larger than any lava coil known on Earth. It is believed that there are volcanoes active on Mars.
