3. Aristotle Originally called them “Earth Worms”
Aristotle was the first to write about eels. He had an interesting theory on where they come from. Aristotle said that eels spontaneously arose from rainwater and dirt. It is now clear that they cannot “pop up” out of thin air. However, it is interesting to see how people saw them in the past.
