What is going on?
They heard a loud crack. They were shocked, thinking that they had broken one, but instead it was another object. The girls were shocked because they thought that something had come out of their eggs.

Giselle noticed that one of the eggs had a large crack in its shell. She shouted in joy and held the egg up to Mary. Mary was told, “Look, it’s nearly time!” but she reacted completely differently, and no one could understand her.
