The Shawshank Redemption (Ohio)
Stephen King’s novel Rita Hayworth & Shawshank Redemption was the inspiration for the 1994 drama The Shawshank Redemption. The story is about a banker, Andy Dufresne played by Tim Robbins. He was convicted for killing his wife and the lover of her husband and received a life term.
Morgan Freeman, Bob Gunton and James Whitmore are among the stars of this Tim Robbins movie. Frank Darabont helmed the film. The film was nominated for multiple Academy Awards despite its poor box office performance. The movie was a financial disaster, but it gained cult-status over time.
The Ohio State Reformatory, located in Mansfield, is a fictional prison. After it closed in 90, it became a popular tourist attraction for fans of The Shawshank Redemption.
Rumble Fish – Oklahoma
Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film Rumble Fish is based on S.E. Hinton’s book by the same title. Hilton. The ensemble cast includes Matt Dillon and Vincent Spano as well as Mickey Rourke Diane Lane Dennis Hopper and Nicholas Cage.
The plot revolves around the relationship between The Motorcycle Boy, Mickey Rourke (played Matt Dillon), and his brother Rusty (played Matt Dillon). The film is avant-garde and noir in style. Coppola dedicated the film to August Floyd Coppola, his brother.
The Outsiders HouseT Museum’s founder and executive director chose the site for a plaque and dedication ceremony. Tulsa is the setting of Rumble Fish. Other films such as The Outsiders, Tex and Rumble Fish have also been written and filmed there.
