Roman Holiday
William Wyler, the director and producer behind Roman Holiday is one of the most popular romantic comedies in American history. Audrey Hepburn plays a princess traveling alone to Rome, where she meets Gregory Peck as a reporter.
The relationship between the two seems implausible at first because they are from different social classes. Hepburn won an Academy Award as Best Actress in recognition of her portrayal. Both the script and costume design won awards in their respective categories.
Paris, Texas (Texas)
This road movie from Wim Wenders stars Harry Dean Stanton as well as Hunter Carson, Nastassjakinski, Aurore clement and Dean Stockwell. Paris, Texas was a joint production between West German and French firms.
Stanton portrayed Travis Henderson. Dean Stockwell portrayed Walt Henderson. Aurore Claire played Anne Henderson. Hunter Carson portrayed Hunter Henderson. The film premiered in theatres in 1984. It won the Palme d’Or award at the Cannes Film Festival the following year.
The film was not shot in Paris. Wenders shot in Houston, Marathon Terlingua and El Paso. Wenders originally planned to drive from Alaska to Texas. Sam Shepard made the opposite suggestion. He suggested he stay in Texas.
