Evil Dead II – North Carolina
Sam Raimi directed Evil Dead II. Also known as Evil Dead 2 Dead by Dawn, this second film of the Evil Dead franchise, was released in 1987. The Evil Dead, a 1981 horror film, is the sequel to this movie. Ash Williams is played by Bruce Williams.
The lead cast also includes Kassie, Dan Hicks and Sarah Berry. Williams and his girlfriend spend their vacation in a cabin in the forest. He finds an audio cassette that contains readings of an old text. Williams fights demons that torture the victims.
Wadesboro, North Carolina was the location for shooting. Chicago and Detroit served as the locations for retakes. Raimi shot his opening scene at the Fryingpan Tunnel along the Blue Ridge Parkway. He filmed the end near the Bonsal Ballast Pits in Lilesville, North Carolina.
Cold Mountain, South Carolina
Anthony Minghella is a British director and screenwriter who created and directed this film. The film stars Jude Law, Renee Zellweger and Nicole Kidman.
Brendan Gleeson is one of the actors in this movie. After its release, the movie was a critical and commercial success. Cold Mountain received seven Academy Award nominations in 2004, including the Best Supporting Actress Award for Rene Zellweger.
The producers did not want to film in North Carolina. The producers chose the Carpathians of Romania. Locals weren’t happy about it. Charleston, South Carolina was the location of some scenes. Virginia and North Carolina were also rumored to be shooting locations.
