Lynch filmed the film in a number of locations around Iowa, such as Lensing, Clermont and Laurens. Eyewitnesses claimed that the film makers transformed the town of Clermont, Iowa into a large film set. Crew people were seen in different locations, and helicopters came in from every angle.
