Hudson State River Hospital
The Hudson State River Hospital, located near Poughkeepsie in New York, was built around 1886. It cost $800,000. That’s about $14 million today. Originally, it was used as a mental hospital. It was abandoned in 2003 after several fires caused damage. The building is currently being renovated to become offices, apartments and a hotel.

New York State Pavilion
The New York State Pavilion, located in Queens was built in 1962 to honor the 1964 New York World’s Fair. The pavilion was designed by Philip Johnson, Richard Foster, and cost 14 million dollars. The set was meant to be reused but was never used. It was used in movies like Men in Black, Iron Man 2, and it fell into disrepair.
