The cubs were eager to eat their dinner after they finished exploring. If their parents didn’t seem interested, the cubs would have taken the first step. As you can see from the picture, the mother, a lioness, crawled around the injured animal in a protective manner. This was to warn the hungry cubs this wasn’t going to be their dinner.
