The steam that comes out of the microwave may be too much for you. It is safer to heat water on a stovetop in a saucepan. You’ll be able to tell when the water starts bubbling.
Chinaware can contain metals that become dangerous when heated by microwave
The majority of fine chinaware dates back to a time long before microwaves even existed, so they are probably not safe for use in one. Most utensils, including dinnerware, made before microwaves should not be used in them. There is a special quality to fine china which could make it more dangerous when heated.
These plates, cups and saucers are often adorned with tiny pieces of metal to give them a luxurious feel. Metal shouldn’t be placed in the microwave, as it could cause sparks or even a fire. It can also break or damage china. Use something microwave-safe instead.
