Examine the Objects Closely
Lily started by examining the surroundings. There was no one in the attic, but on one side there was a tiny window that was just big enough to squeeze through. It was too high for her to climb, so she needed something to hold onto to get there. She looked around in a desperate attempt to find anything that would help her escape.
An Unexpected Discovery
She stumbled across a loose floorboard while searching. She opened it and found a hidden compartment with old newspaper and a wooden box. Lily felt a sudden ray of hope in her dire situation. She found an old set of rusty, worn-out keys inside the box.
