Angela and Garrett Holmes were shocked to read the letter they received from their housing association. Angela Holmes uses a wheelchair ramp to help her get around. The HOA demanded that the HOA remove it. The couple thought this was a mistake since they lived in their Mount Juliet house for 10 years and never had a problem with the ramp. The HOA had a newly elected president who said that the ramp was causing problems. The Holmes then decided to take action.
The Confrontation
Angela first needed clarification. She confronted her HOA to ask why they wanted the ramp removed. Despite the uncomfortable conversation, it was eventually revealed that the HOA wanted the ramp removed because it was an eye sore. Angela was shocked by what she heard and felt devastated.
The Notification
Angela and Garrett decided after the confrontation to remain firm and leave the ramp in its current state. The HOA sent the Holmes a second notification after realizing that the Holmes were not removing the ramp. The letter stated that the HOA had placed a lien on the Holmes’ home and that the only way to remove it was to comply with the request to remove their ramp. Angela was forced to rethink the entire situation.
A Sad Day
Angela wanted Garrett to comply with the HOA after the second notice. Garrett initially refused, claiming that they could not give up. However, after Angela showed him the lien notice, he rethought his decision.
